After all It's Patio Season!!!

Interior French Doors are on special at Dayna's Doors
this door to the left is on sale!

1 - 10lite French Door Prehung on primed 4 9/16 jamb for $99.00
Sizes range from 2/4 - 2/8 Limited supplies, going, going, gone! This price applies only to doors that are already prehung in the shop. (as the door itself sells for $90 this is a great special!).

There is clear glass in the doors but if this is not what you are after and you want a more frosted look, there are kits to acid etch the glass or use a type of film to cover the glass to give a more frosted look. The acid etch formula should be able to be found at any art supply store or even big box store in their paint isle, purchases online for sure... Perhaps call some places first before driving all over, if this is of interest.

Now if you are thinking about adding some 1- Lite French Doors to your Patio get the doors prehung as a double door at Dayna's Doors and you will receive 10% off the prehung unit. Replacing the old sliding glass doors with a set of French Double Doors opens up the usefulness as both doors can not open and beauty to a home. This picture is a double French Doors with internal blinds like the picture to the left (LOVE!!) which we think are so smart. They are active just like normal blinds but they don't collect all the dust as do the normal blinds!

This picture to the left is a set of 1 Lite French Doors but they have added on a Wizard Screen, this allows the homeowners to open up their doors but now they don't have to worry about bugs coming into their home. The screens meet up in the middle, one locks into place and you slide the other one open, but of course they will both open and there will be NO POST in the middle to obstruct you walking path. (just like a set of Double French Exterior Doors)

Keep renovating and building!

Wonderful world of Wood and the True Beauty in Wood

No matter the product if it is crafted from wood there is true natural beauty that can't be denied.

When we choose a wooden product it comes with all the characters and colours. The beauty of the natural wood can bring a calming effect to a home, cabin or even tree-house! There are many different types of wood and many types are used in making doors. The main wood types Dayna's Doors offers come in Hemlock and Knotty Alder.

Hemlock is most commonly paired or compared with Fir as they have very similar marking and colours. In fact most people even professionals can't even tell the difference! It all depends on the conditions the trees grew in, we can however tell a difference between a Chinese Hemlock and a North American Hemlock because of their distinctive markings within the grain. Take this picture to the left a Hemlock 3 Panel Shaker door has a vertical grain and is quite lite in colour. If you look closely the colours within the panels range from an almost yellow/golden to a more pink colour. This is because the pieces may have come from different trees or different sections of the tree. You will always be able to see the difference in the colours in the panels and it is quite beautiful to see all the varying hues within the wood- especially when you finish them in a clear stain. A clean grain is accomplished through the Hemlock doors.

It is truly amazing how wood in a room can transform the feeling of a home or style. The natural beauty wood brings into a room is like no other, definitely not accomplished by using hollow core doors or products

Now if you are looking for a little more character to you home or cabin please take note of the following door. This door below is a Knotty Alder 3 Panel Square Top Shaker it is the exact same style as the one above (The Hemlock 3 panel above) but has a lot more character!

Again when a stain is put on the wood beautiful tones and colours come out of the wood, the natural beauty comes from the different hues within the panels. You will always have variances in the colours and tones in the wood. In fact the more differences and knots in these Knotty Alder doors the better!

Renovations bring on new excitements and buzz in the atmosphere as the home transforms and changes to fit your style. Choose a door that fits your character!!

Curb appeal Curb appeal Curb appeal!

Curb appeal Curb appeal Curb appeal! Dress up your door by adding some beautiful glass or maybe changing out an old outdated style. First impressions last forever!

No mater the style of a house there is a door that will enhance the curb appeal to every home. Weather a Victorian, Country or Modern style home Dayna's Doors will help you find the right door! Sometimes this will require a little bit of searching but we will keep on trying to find that perfect fit! Maybe you have the right door it just needs a little re-vamping or updating......

In this double door unit (see above) the glass was custom ordered with a beautiful black rod iron design in the glass. The sealed glass unit comes from a beautiful line of different glass from Medieval Glass industries http://www.medievalglass.com/ they have many styles to choose from. Not only does this company have glass for exterior units but they also carry a wide range of transom glass and cabinet glass as well. This is truly a unique front door entrance and I can't wait until the entire renovation is complete to see all the complimentary details between the home and doors.

The first doors featured in this article were originally fiberglass 6 panels (see picture to the right). We simply went throught the many pictures and glass options with our customers and found the perfect fit! We cut out and removed the panels and voila! a new style to match the newly renovated home!
 .
Sometimes you won't get so lucky and you will have to replace the entire unit, but that is ok too! We will take your old doors and make sure they get recycled or maybe we can re-hang them for you into a new frame.

British Columbia can bring some really wet seasons and because of this we see a lot of frames and bottoms of doors that rot and no longer have their structural integrity. We say no problem!

Bring in your doors and we can analyze them at the shop and give some advice! You might just need a new door unit and maybe not!

From simple Craftsman style doors to ornate and fancy no matter the style of a home there is a way of enhancing the beauty and increasing the curb appeal. Curb appeal is important for home owners, sellers and buyers.

Curb appeal is the first impression for everyone and you want to make sure your home is dressed to impress!

check out the different styles and photo gallery, maybe you will see the perfect door for your instant home improvement!
